Dementia NI invites you to a special event in conjunction with Ards and North Down Borough Council.
Dementia NI members will bring this unique session to life by sharing their real-life experiences of what it is like to live with dementia.
Their aim: To challenge associated negative assumptions in the hope that others will be more accepting, tolerant of the symptoms, and helpful towards people living with the condition.
What are Dementia NI Awareness Sessions?
At these sessions:
- Members give talks which challenge the stigma of having a diagnosis, dispel preconceptions surrounding the condition and educate others about what it is like to live with dementia in the hope that everyone will become more understanding and be accepting of their symptoms.
- Supported by staff and volunteers who give a background on dementia, Dementia NI members raise awareness of dementia and bring these unique sessions to life by adding their real-life experiences of living with dementia to help explain what support they need.
- Gain insight into the signs and symptoms, and the challenges that a diagnosis of dementia brings. Discover how you can best support people living with dementia in the community and participate in thought-provoking discussions around the stigma surrounding dementia.
The event is free of charge and lunch will be provided.
